Communication and information dissemination

A key role of SADC-CNGO is to ensure that its constituencies have timely and user-friendly information about SADC decisions, institutions, policies and processes. Informs lobbying, advocacy and campaigning. SADC-CNGO devises ways of

collecting, collating, packaging and disseminating information to members and keystakeholders for them to engage effectively with SADC. This is an integral strategy of taking SADC to the people. At the same time, SADC-CNGO  assist its members and other civil society partners to ensure that strategic information from them, reaches the SADC Secretariat and other regional institutions.

SADC-CNGO also plays a key role in ensuring that civil society in the region is mobilized and coordinated in order to engage effectively with SADC. Key interventions include promotion and coordination of the activities of the Alliance Pact between SADC-CNGO, FOCCISA and SATUCC; convening the Annual Southern Africa Civil Society Forum; production of databases of civil society in the region; supporting thematic networks and other relevant platforms for them to participate in SADC decision-making processes from an informed point of view. In addition, SADC-CNGO will also work with and coordinate with other strategic stakeholders, including civil society organisations, media, academia, private sector, SADC related institutions (such as SADC Parliamentary Forum, Electoral Commissions Forum of SADC, SADC Lawyers Associations and SADC Electoral Advisory Council) and African Union structures.

Together with its members and the Apex Alliance members, SADC-CNGO advocate for a supportive operating environment for civil society to operate effectively and for the Institutionalisation of civil society participation in SADC decision making. SADC-CNGO Advocate for the implementations of outcomes of researches and discussions conducted in the previous strategy period on the framework of cooperation between CSOs and SADC at national and regional levels.
